How much do we LOVE our shoes? I for one have pairs of shoes with tags on them because I just HAD to get that sale. Well ... I have had a little change of heart.

barefoot man in haiti

Ashlee Holland: As we all know, Haiti has been devastated by yet ANOTHER natural disaster. I have been glued to the TV and sending up prayers for all involved. While watching this terrible footage, I started noticing a VERY common theme. NO SHOES!!!

People covered in blood, NO SHOES! Toddlers walking through broken concrete, NO SHOES! People sitting around in the street with their feet wrapped in blood-soaked material ... NO SHOES!

I hate walking barefoot when going to the dumpster outside. So, in NO WAY can I even imagine walking barefoot through rubble, broken glass, blood, and who knows what else. I immediately started thinking about all of the "extra" tennis shoes and boots I have held onto over the years. My "soft-hoarding" problem has just found its cure!

I have been on Facebook, various websites, e-mails, and phone calls asking for shoes. I am organizing a local drive here in Southern California. What a simple solution to a problem that can only cause a snowball effect of more injuries and disease. Donated shoes can and will easily aid in someone's ability to WALK for help!

I always feel helpless because of the lack of money to donate, or because I am not a doctor or wealthy businesswoman. But SHOES were put on my heart as a very real solution to a very REAL crisis at this time in Haiti. So YES, let's LOVE our shoes, but let us LOVE the people that need them more! DONATE TODAY and specify your donation is for HAITI!

This is a great idea. I have so many shoes in boxes in my garage that I haven’t worn in so long ( i moved two years ago) and my thought was to sell them but now that I know there is a place for donation I am going to send them in. I alway find when I clean out my closet that there is not one to give my barely worn shoes that I know i’m not going to wear. I have a big foot and no one wants my size 10’s You solved my shoe problem for the rest of my life!
