Surly Simon Cowell, the ascerbic judge on the hit show "American Idol," has just announced this is his last season with the show. But he's not going far. He's got a NEW show coming to TV.
In the wake of the bombshell announcement that Simon is leaving "Idol," FOX has announced the UK hit "The X Factor" will make its stateside debut in the fall of 2011. Simon, who created and launched the show in the UK in 2004, will serve as both executive producer and judge on the U.S. version.
"The X Factor," the number-one entertainment show in Europe, is currently seen worldwide in 17 countries and has a global audience of more than 500 million.
The biggest star to come out of "The X Factor" is multi-platinum singer Leona Lewis, who has been nominated for several Grammys.
