Student Rescued in Haiti After Texting From Under Rubble

sign up for the momlogic newsletter Tweet This A university student was rescued from the remains of a leveled school in Haiti after text messages asking for help were sent from underneath the rubble.

Nearly one week after the massively devastating earthquake struck Haiti, 23 year old student Maxine Fallon was successfully rescued Monday by a Peruvian search and rescue team.

Rescuers were drawn to the scene by text messages sent from someone trapped inside, according to paramedic Clever Sobrino.

Fallon was treated by a doctor from Israel before she was taken to a U.N. Treatment center on the back of a CNN truck covering the devastation.

Reporters said the student was drifting in and out of consciousness at the time of her extrication.

It is unclear if Fallon was the one who sent the text message requesting help, as there believed to be even more trapped survivors under the flattened school still waiting for rescue.

As of Sunday, there have been reports of more than 60 people having been found alive by rescue teams from outside nations providing aid to Haitian earthquake survivors.
