Shaun White, Olympic Gold Medalist, Was Born with a Heart Defect

Merinews: Shaun White stunned everyone at Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 with some great stunts, including the spectacular Double McTwist 1260. The performance earned him a gold medal at Olympics 2010.

Shaun was born on September 3, 1988 in San Diego, California. Shaun White, aka The Flying Tomato, as a baby was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of fallot, in which the heart has four abnormalities. Shaun White's heart was operated on twice before he was one year old. By the age of 6, Shaun began snowboarding for the 1st time and began competing when he was only 7 years old.

When Shaun was 13 years of age, he became a pro snowboarder and was known as the snowboard prodigy who even excelled at skateboarding. At 23, Shaun White has now become one of the world's best and most recognized snowboarders.
