The iconic blonde doll made its debut 51 years ago today at the American Toy Fair. She still looks fab!

Barbie -- whose full name is Barbie Millicent Roberts -- was the creation of Ruth Handler. Handler based her on a German doll called "Bild Lilli" and named her "Barbie" after her daughter, Barbara.

In addition to numerous careers, Barbie has had a plethora of pets -- including dogs, cats, ponies, a panda, a lion cub and a zebra. She's driven many different cars (including a pink Corvette). She's also flown planes and served as a flight attendant.
