Is this for real, or is it a hoax?

craigslist

Police in Wash. are trying to track down a father who allegedly offered to sell his son on Craigslist for $5,000, reports Craigslist.

The father, "Rick," writes, "Gavin is a great kid but I can no longer afford to take care of him. He's 4 years old and loves playing with balls but doesn't really like to play with cars and refuses to eat vegetables. He doesn't fuss very much but when he does he just screams for hours. I usually just put him in the closet until he stops and that usually works."

We hope this was a phony ad ... but if it wasn't, we hope Rick is found and brought to justice, so Gavin can be given the safe and loving home he deserves.

Do you think this is a hoax?

Of course it’s fake.

I think it’s fake, and while maybe not the brightest idea, I don’t think he deserves to be ‘brought to justice’. I also get the feeling he actually loves his child very much and highly doubt it says anything about his parenting.

I fail to see the problem with this ad.

dumbasses…

The only issue I see here is that 5K seems like an awful lot for a kid that is obviously not very well behaved. i don’t think the closet technique works as well as a good old fashioned beating… but that’s just my opinion. Buyer beware I guess.

Thanks for the lead

Hoax, are we really paying good money to have cops follow “leads” like this? If so that person should be fined $5,000 and have any kids of his/hers taken away.

Yes,Obviously a joke and I don’t see why any law enforcement agency would waste resources investigating this.

It is really hard to tell if it is real or fake. I do hope that if it is real that something is done about this father because that is just ruthless to try to sell your child on the internet no less. If it is fake then the the father needs find something else to be humorous about or another to get attention if that is what he is looking for.

First of all, whether it is a hoax or not it needs to be looked into because there may be a child or children that are needing help and protection from this man. Also if it is a hoax, just think someone may try to “rescue this child” and be lured to thier death for the money.

It could be real, only way is to check it out. Case in point…at a flea market this guy with his 5 yr old son was trying to buy hot sauce (crazy hot - like Dave’s Insanity) and he stated his purpose was to use it to punish his son by making the child swallow a tablespoon of it. Fortunately for this kid this flea market had an police officer working. Result…you can’t know for sure until you investigate…

Anyone who posts sarcastic comments about the idea of someone selling or toturing a child is a cruel and malicious person.
