Reality Teen Queen Sues ABC for Big Bucks

A teen beauty queen who said she "feels sorry for people that are not gorgeous" is suing ABC for $100 million because she says her appearance on the reality show "Wife Swap" has ruined her life.
In the lawsuit, 18-year-old Alicia Guastaferro says that after the 2008 appearance, she has suffered from panic attacks and has had thoughts of suicide. According to the N.Y. Daily News, she claims the show edited and staged scenes to "maximize public embarrassment."
Alicia claims that, after appearing on the show, she received death threats, was assaulted and was forced to transfer schools, court documents say.
In a clip from the "Wife Swap" episode in question, Alicia's family is seen fawning all over her and boasting that they spend upwards of $100,000 a year on her pageant habit. "If you don't have the best clothes, the best hair and makeup and the best tan, you're not gonna win the pageant," Alicia says. Her father says he would rather have a pretty daughter than one who is smart.
The suit claims that "Wife Swap's" producers told the teen queen to "act a little more spoiled" and staged scenes -- including showing a permanent Christmas tree in the home, allegedly placed so Alicia could receive daily presents. "[Alicia Guastaferro] does not receive a present every day," the suit says. The suit also claims that scenes showing her mother completing her homework are not accurate.
The teen also objected to one scene featuring her mother, Karen, serving her cereal. Alicia makes a face and sneers, "That was not your best cereal" -- and pushes the bowl away. The suit says that Karen Guastaferro agreed to be paid $20,000 to be on the show, but that ABC and Disney never obtained the teen's consent.
Watch the clip and tell us what you think. She sure looks like a spoiled brat to us!
I thought the 12 yr daughter of the other family was prettier then Alicia. You have to have presence and beauty within to be truely beautiful on the outside. I have seen “beautiful” people that were some of the ugliest people (like Alicia). And I have seen alot of “ugly” people that are truely beautiful on the inside. Alicia wasnt even “pretty” by my books.
This girl knew what was going on…she’s just a greedy shallow hag. I hope the judge chides her for wasting his/her time.
I’m not even sure what to say. Holy crap. Other Half and I just watched this and our jaws repeatedly hit the ground. What is she going to do IF she ever leaves the house? What will happen to her if her parents get sick or when they die? They won’t be around forever. She’s 15 years old and my 9 year old sister reads better than she does!! This is disgusting. I’d even go as far as to say that it is child abuse.
I saw that episode! I thought someone needed to knock that father upside his head. You know, get the hamster back on the wheel. I mean sadly enough it’s really the parents fault. That girl only knows what she has been shown, which sadly enough is nothing.
For reasons uknown, I doubt that Alicia Guastaferro isn’t destined to be that successful in suing ABC. If I am not mistaken, nothing is staged or scripted and people basically get to act like they usually do. Granted, they also get more than a few no fax payday loans worth for doing so, and they also get thrown right into the deep end because we all want to look at the train wreck. (It’s called Shadenfreude.) She came off as a nimrod that has never worked for a thing in her life, well, because that is what she is. The ABC attorneys are likely to rake her over the coals, and she will end up having to get a job - to pay court fees.
She’s a stupid spoiled heifer with a spray on tan.

Her dad said he would rather have a pretty daughter than a smart one. Too bad he didn’t get either
