Ktla: The Republican National Committee is under some scrutiny after it was revealed that RNC funds were used to pay for a nearly $2,000 tab at a bondage-themed nightclub in West Hollywood.

The pricey night out happened back in February at Voyeur on Santa Monica Boulevard, where naughty shows featuring partial nakedness are put on for patrons' viewing pleasure.

Doug Heye, a spokesman for the RNC, issued a statement Monday confirming that the RNC reimbursed a member $1,946 for a trip to Voyeur, but also said the member has agreed to return the funds at the committee's request.

Heye said he didn't know who the person involved was specifically, and that the committee was still trying to determine who was at the club that night.

An RNC source told Fox News that the member was Erik Brown, a direct mail operator based in California, but Heye would not confirm that. And a post in the Daily Caller suggested that RNC Chairman Michael Steel may have been involved.

But Heye said in a statement that Steele "had no knowledge of the expenditure, nor does he find the use of committee funds at such a location at all acceptable."

The nightclub, inspired by the film "Eyes Wide Shut," has become a hot spot for Hollywood celebrities. Their opening night attracted music impresario Rick Rubin, actors Vincent Gallo and Gerard Butler, reality personality Jack Osbourne and guitarist Jerry Cantrell.
