MamaSox Almost Walks After 'Idol' Double Elimination!

momlogic's Vivian: To make up for last week's save, two "American Idol" contestants were sent home this week, including one that kind of surprised me -- and even though she was safe, MamaSox nearly walked off the show! Here's what happened!

As per the ushe, this week's elimination show began with a borderline-hokey medley (this time, Elvis songs) and the week's Ford ad. Then Casey, Aaron and Andrew were asked to stand up while Ryan Seacrest rehashed the judges' comments about them. Andrew was sent packing almost immediately, and Casey and Aaron sat back down.

During his swan song, Andrew worked his best suave, gravelly tone. His parting words? "I appreciate everything!" he said. "I'm glad I've been through what I've been through. You guys have let me experience something that I'll never experience again. Thank you! I love you guys!"

After that, Miley Cyrus' ex, Justin Gaston, joined Season 7 "Idol" finalist Brooke White to perform the theme song for "Idol" founder Simon Fuller's latest reality opus, "If I Can Dream." Meh.

Then, Ryan had the whole bottom row stand up so he could review the judges' commentaries. Lee and Siobhan were called first. Lee spoke about how his week had felt different, and Siobhan's mixed reviews were addressed. When Katie was asked if she thought she was hitting her stride, she said that she felt like she was growing. Big Mike Lynche rose to a roar of applause, followed by Crystal Bowersox and Tim Urban.

MamaSox was the first sent back to safety, followed by Siobhan -- who heaved a visible sigh of relief. Lee was asked to walk with Ryan toward the seats, then was also told he was safe. Mike, Tim and Katie were then left to stew in the center of the stage while a lamé-clad Adam Lambertperformed his hit, "What Do You Want From Me" (augmented by some hard-core smoke and laser action).

Tim was the first of the three to be sent back to safety, and somber looks of concern crossed the judges' mugs. Ryan said that one of the remaining two wasn't even in the bottom three ... before announcing that Katie was the one who was going home. The camera panned to Crystal and Siobhan sobbing for her.

When Ryan asked Katie what she'll tell her friends when she goes home, she said she'd talk about "all the amazing people that I met, and the amazing experience that this was." Her parting song, "Let It Be," caught in her throat and was thus laden with pitch problems.

So now I eat crow, because I predicted Katie as a dark horse for the top five. But I still say that with her youthful, moldable look and raw vocal talent, it won't be the last we see of that young lady.

Now for what the cameras didn't show:TMZhas just reported that after the show, an overwhelmed Crystal Bowersox stormed out into the "Idol" parking lot, threatening to quit the whole shebang and go back to Ohio to be with her family. She said she "couldn't handle the competition" and "hated the attention."

Seacrest likened a tenure on "Idol" to "starting a business," and told her that if she took the prize, she'd "get a recording contract and become a millionaire."

The clincher? Seacrest told her, "The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house. You can buy your mom a house."

Never underestimate the pull of MOM. Our honorable MamaSox was saved!

But how will she handle the stress next week? What'll happen when Alicia Keys mentors the inspirational-song genre? And who will rock the stage next Wednesday during the "Idol Gives Back" concert?

Tune in to "American Idol" on FOX next Tuesday, and then be sure to hang out here for the recap!

I think they should have let her go home. So many people dream of that opportunity and if she can’t handle the stress now and is home sick now what’s going to happen when she goes on tour and is traveling and when people actually start writing bad things about her. she won’t be able to handle it and she will quit. might as well get it over with now

I don’t think any of them have any talent. They’re just manufactured stars.

It’s not about papa sox!

No, it’s about saving Seacrest’s face after his whack behavior went too OTT to disregard…and get people talking about this dreary season.

Crystal’s tweet on the official Idol social app page -

>>”Media is a funny thing. Stretched and skewed and far from the truth. Lets play telephone and see what we come up with!! :-)”

Crystal texted to Katelyn Epperly ->> “I’m fine…betrayed by Seacrest!”

Two tweets that have some bearing on what one can believe out of TPTB - as much disdain as people have for them, TMZ reported the embellished story they were told, after all. But who told them? And why? Idol needed some Buzz?

Yes, IMO.
