What it does: The Hipstamatic is basically a filter that makes your photos look like they were taken back in the days of the Pocket Instamatic camera. The app comes preloaded with three kinds of lenses, film and two flash options. You can order additional Hipstamatic packs; you can also load the pictures directly onto Facebook.
Why it's better to go old-school: Actually, I think it would be pretty hard to instantly get cool retro pics without the Hipstamatic. (You could, of course, build a time machine, go back in time 30 to 40 years and get your hands on an old Vivitar. Problem is, then you'd have to go forward in time to take the pictures of your family -- and then get back into the time machine again to have them developed. HUGE hassle.)
Worth it? Absolutely. Every picture you take looks amazing using this app. Plus, with the film, lens and flash choices you can play around to get just the look you want. (My favorite setting is "John S" lens with "Ina's 69." film) It's so good, in fact, that even if my daughter has a sullen, pissed-off look on her face because I'm taking her picture for the umpteenth time, it still looks great!!

I am even giving my mom (she is 63) the free fastmall iphone app. She is not going to believe that you can shake your phone and find, then be taken to the nearest bathroom!! And tons more like turn by turn directions so she never feels lost and doesnt have to look at those old directories. http://www.FastMall.com As a new mom or parent with stroller you can get elevator only routes inside the mall for speed too. Its incredible.
The layout of the weblog is absolutely messed up when I look at it in Opera. Plz fix it.
