The 'Idol' Shockers Keep Coming -- Kind Of!

momlogic's Vivian: Last night's "American Idol" results show was a star-studded event with loads of surprises. But it's not who went home that shocked me, as much as who comprised the bottom three. Want to know? Read on!

Since Shania Twain had rung in country-pop week, Rascal Flatts opened the show with their latest tune, "Unstoppable." Truth be told, pop melodies with a country twang really aren't my thing, so it was all I could do not to fast-forward. I couldn't help but ponder the lack of appeal of R.F.'s birdlike frontman, but hey -- one (wo)man's ceiling is another's floor!

Then came time for the "Idols" to ham it up for Ford. The week's video, called "Believe," was an attempt to capitalize on the goth vampire craze du jour, and Casey worked it pretty hard with some serious smoldering looks.

Thanks to Ryan Seacrest's impending cameo appearance, the "Idols" got an inside glimpse into the whole film-voiceover process behind "Shrek Forever After," even attempting a few voiceovers themselves (Mike's was REALLY good!). Then Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas came onstage to announce that it was time for the results.

Siobhan was asked to walk to the far side of the stage. Aaron walked to his mark on center stage, and Mike was asked to stand closest to Ryan. Lee was ordered to join Siobhan. Casey joined Mike. When it was Crystal's turn, Ryan remarked how Tuesday night had been the very first time the judges hadn't unanimously loved her -- but when asked if Crystal could be in trouble, Ellen replied that she didn't think America was "that fickle." Crystal was then asked to join Aaron in the center.

Ryan then pronounced Lee, Aaron and Crystal safe -- leaving Casey, Mike and Siobhan to comprise the bottom three. Apparently America had decided to vote in line with its loyalties on Tuesday, instead of by how well the night's performances had gone.

Next, Lady Antebellum took the stage with their hit, "Need You Now." (There's always something oh-so-'70s about male-female duets, isn't there?) Then Shakira joined Rascal Flatts to perform a song called "Gypsy."

Results time resumed. Ryan asked Mike how it felt to be standing in the bottom three again, and he graciously replied that everyone had had a great night and that it would depend on how it all "stacked up." Ryan then proclaimed Mike safe, leaving Siobhan and Casey to exchange many furtive side-glances -- and me to wonder if they'd done the deed, "Idol" style. At this point, who'd be going home was obvious.

And as I thought, Siobhan was the one to go. Everyone in the audience gave her a standing ovation as she reiterated that she had joined "Idol" for her little sisters, so she could "show them what we are capable of." Then she grabbed the mic and sang her ass off to Aretha Franklin's "Think," defiantly strutting her stuff in front of the judges. Girlfriend went big when going home -- her crazy last note was truly amazing. Then she ran off stage and hugged her "muthah." She gave Simon a hug also, and even he said he was going to miss her.

So ... this leaves our MamaSox to fend for herself amongst the men. Next week, the "Idols" will take on the Sinatra catalog, with Harry Connick, Jr. as mentor. At last: a challenge the singers can cut their teeth on! I've got a feeling our girl will be just fine.

Will MamaSox rise to reign again? Tune in to FOX next Tuesday ... then come back here for the recap!
