Runaway mom Tiffany Tehan says she was "selfish" for leaving her husband and daughter andrunning off with another man.

She told her side of the story to Deborah Norville of "Inside Edition." Here are some of her memorable quotes from that TV interview:

• "What was going through my head was, 'She's 13 months old, she's got a wonderful father, wonderful grandparents, wonderful aunts and uncles who love her, and they'll take care of her.' But I won't deny it was totally selfish."

• "In hindsight, I wouldn't do this again, and I need to make that clear. I regret it. But at the time, I honestly thought no one would really miss me that much."

• "I didn't want to do anything illegal. The plan was to get in the car and head down to Florida and start a new life. We had plans to maybe start a business ... But I truly thought, 'No one's going to miss me that much. Let's get in the car and go.'"

We still can't understand how a mother could leave her child. What do you think of Tiffany Tehan's explanation?

I, personally, could never leave my kids, but so? Does that mean every mother is the same way? My husband also could never leave his kids. Does that mean every father is the same way? Do we even bat an eye when we hear of dads abandoning their kids? Some Dads do it, some Dads could NEVER do it. We assume ALL moms could never do it. Stop assuming. Stop judging. Love YOUR kids and leave it at that.

I think she’s depressed - saying her daughter would be fine without her, that no one would miss her much…sounds like she doesn’t think much of herself or her importance to her daughter.
