Hey Sandra,

sandra bullock

We're thrilled to hear that you've adopted 3-month-old Louis Bardo Bullock from New Orleans. He's adorable!

We know that you're already in the thick of it, with lots of snuggling, toothless smiles, dirty diapers and nighttime feedings. Here at momlogic, we're cheering you on.

Motherhood isn't simple, whether you're single or married -- and surely you're going to have moments in which you say, "My life was not supposed to look like this."

No doubt you'd imagined raising little Louis with a life partner. (And THAT kind of man -- the one who will adore and cherish you -- is likely out there!) In the meantime, if we can give you one bit of advice, it's this: Love your son, but don't use him as a security blanket.

Many of us single moms have been there. It's important to remember YOU as you parent solo. Take bubble baths. Go out with girlfriends. Ask for help. Say "yes" when your neighbors invite you over for dinner.

The ignorant critics have already started to condemn you for adopting an African-American baby on your own. Please do whatever you can to tune out the harsh disapproval.

Please also know this: You've got a tribe of single moms who support you. (I don't mean to creep you out; we're not stalking you.) We know what it means to parent solo. If you make some mistakes along the way (and you will!), we'll absolve you. And if you want to open up about how tired you are, we're listening.

In Single Motherhood We Trust,

That kind of man is out there.
Three years after I lost my late-husband I married a wonderful man.
48, never married, no children of his own. He is a great Dad to my now 10 & 12 year old daughters and a beyond wonderful husband.
She deserves the best!

What are all these (white) celebrities trying to prove with adopting kids of another race?

She is a great woman and I know she will do just fine with a child. For those of you knocking her for the color of her child, grow up!!! She does not have a problem with it and neither should you. This is her business and you know what, she is doing what others wont and gave that child a place to call home and someone to call mom.

I think it most definitely is reverse discrimination to hear so many black people complain about white people adopting black babies. If the color of our skin isn’t suppose to matter, according to your outcries, then why is it an issue in reverse. It is or it isn’t..pick a side. There are babies who need families and if there are black children waiting to be adopted there doesn’t seem to be enough black families adopting.
