Although Casey James was Tuesday night's weakest performer, Aaron Kelly's tepid performance of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" wasn't enough to earn him another week -- and voting viewers sent him packing.
Surprisingly, James wasn't even in the bottom two. Sadly, Big Daddy Mike -- who gave a hawt-hawt-hawt, judge-approved performance of "The Way You Look Tonight" -- kept Kelly company as he awaited his fate. Our girl Crystal "MamaSox" Bowersox was also spared, in spite of her sweet yet lackluster rendition of Sinatra's "Summer Wind."
Donning her requisite black-lace shroud, Lady Gaga mounted her baby grand and sang an impassioned medley of "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro" -- while a gaggle of hunks (clad in what looked like man-SPANX) surrounded her while performing an extensive interpretive dance routine. DAMN. So goo-goo for Gaga!
According to an interview with "Idol Chatter" (USA Today's "American Idol" column), Kelly is excited about what's to come -- and chief on his agenda is a move to the country-music capital of the U.S.A.: Nashville. "You have to be in Nashville to keep going," he said. "And that's where most of the country music stuff is happening. So I'm definitely going to have to be in Nashville."
Hmm ... so MamaSox will be last girl standing against Casey James, Big Daddy Mike Lynche and the affable Lee DeWyze as the top 4 perform "songs from the cinema" with Jamie Foxx next week. Will she pull out all the stops and take the lead again? Or will she be the one to go?
Tune in to FOX next Tuesday ... then meet me right back here for the recap!
