This interview leaves out a lot of relevant background information. Like he and his wife of over 10 years lived in Japan and were raising their kids there. He is a Japanese citizen. He relocated to the US. His wife and kids followed, and then she was served with divorce papers within days of moving to a new country where she was learning the language. He remarried months later.
It’s not surprising that she wouldn’t want to remain in Tennessee. It’s not surprising that he would prefer to have his ex-wife and kids living in the same state as his new wife and step-kids. Filing for and divorcing his wife in Japan would have resulted her getting full custody.
