One in Five Regret Baby Name Choice

I only regret my youngest daughter’s middle name. I was “guilted” into giving her the same middle name as my mother-in-law. (Marie) Thankfully it’s also my favorite aunt’s name!
We named our second girl Olivia and I love it…Not sure why it would be one that people regretted? I was surprised by most of the names on the list.
I love my kids names as much as when I first picked them - except one middle name after a family member. I knew it wasn’t a great idea and I was horribly right.
My dad was the one who suggested my daughters name Sophia, I didn’t like it at first but in the end, that is the only thing I could think of to call her. My hubby wanted her named after his grandmother and our son, then 5 wanted her middle name to rhyme with his, he is Lucas Payne. So we ended up naming her Sophia Kathryn Rayne _____. I regretted it at first but then thought, when she is older she can go by whatedver she wants, she has many choices. And I can’t imagine her by anything other than Sophia!!
I named my daughter Naomi Danielle Rose xxxxx. The x’s are substituting our last name for privacy reasons in this comment. My daughter has 2middle names and I have no regrets. I even smiled more when I realised that my daughters middle initials are DR. [as in doctor!] This was not really intentional but I absolutely love it now. I chose my daughters name and didnt have to bicker with anyone or be guilted into any name. I carry the baby, therefore I name the baby. Period. I’m lucky in that right, especially cuz I stand up for myself and claim that right as a woman, where as most others have to share ideas or choices or conceed to someone elses opinions. When dad-to-be gets morning sickness and all the issues associated with a woman being pregnant with her child, maybe then I might consider his opinion, but not while I know many guys suggest their favourite stripper or pornographic female name or a former girlfriends name for daughters. I will be picking my new childs name as well, with no bickering over names.
I agree with significantly of what peoples comments are that I am reading here.
A little government and a little luck are necessary in life, but only a fool trusts either of them.

The solution is to gradually become free of societal rewards and learn how to substitute for them rewards that are under one’s own powers. This is not to say that we should abandon every goal endorsed by society; rather, it means that, in addition to or instead of the goals others use to bribe us with, we develop a set of our own.
Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Nice website. Thanks, very informative and easy to understand.

I originally had my heart set on naming our little girl Isabella but my husband didn’t like the name at all. We had a terrible time agreeing on a name but finally decided on Paige. It fits our little girl perfectly! I won’t say I’ve never wondered ‘what if we had named her Isabella’ but I am happy with her name. Her middle name… well my husband really wanted a family name so we picked a really common name Marie! I would have liked something different maybe even Isabella as her middle name but it is what it is… no regrets now.
