Salma Hayek Puts Space Dreams on Hold

Salma Hayek was planning to go into space on the Virgin Galactic expedition, but canceled her reservation after she had daughter Valentina.

She tells InStyle magazine, "I reserved my place with the Virgin [Galactic] expedition. And then I got pregnant. And now I'm a mother. So, I'm not going to go."

She added, "I love scuba diving and used to dive where the sharks were, and now? No more sharks. Everything becomes about the baby. You are in second position, or third."

We can totally relate to Salma's line of thinking. After having kids, many of us here at momlogic now avoid extreme travel, and definitely take fewer risks than we used to. We just can't bear the thought of something happening to us and leaving our children motherless.

Do YOU take fewer risks now that you're a mother?

I almost turned down a free trip to Tokyo because I was too scared to leave my baby. I ended up taking out a huge life insurance policy before the flight just in case.

On a day to day basis, yes I take less risks. But SPACE? That would be tough… My kids would want me to go, I think. That would be a lifetime moment. My kids would be able to say My Mom went to space. Tough decision… But I would probably do it.

I love the stars :)

I don’t think I take less risks. I’m all about living life to the fullest. If I had the opportunity to go into space (all-expenses paid of course!), I would jump all over it. I think my husband and kids would make me go lol because they would know it’s a once in a lifetime experience. And can you imagine?!? All the pictures of the Earth you could take? How cool would that be? Tweeting from space! Making little videos you can upload when you get back home! Yeah, I’d be all over it!
