1) Start Early. The earlier you can get on one of these lists, the better off you'll be. Some daycare directors will wait-list children before they are even conceived!
2) Have Backups. Other parents sign up for several wait lists at once, in the hopes that at least one slot will open up. Even after they have been admitted somewhere, many parents say it is wise to stay on wait lists for other centers, in case you end up wanting to switch.
3) Keep Siblings Together. Because siblings of current enrollees almost always get priority admission, it pays to sign up all your kids at the same center.
4) Forget Bribes. Directors say they often have to fend off parents who try to offer up money or donations to gain admittance.
