Kayla Manson, the 13-year-old "accomplice" charged in connection with the brutal beating of Josie Ratley, said on "Today" that she hadn't thought that the boy charged with the assault would actually harm her friend. "I wouldn't help someone hurt somebody," she said.

She also said the C-word (twice!), but it was bleeped out in the West Coast feed.

If Manson is convicted, she could be sentenced to a juvenile jail until she's 21. Do you think she should get jail time?

What truly bothers me is this little girls lack of any emotion concerning any of it. Not even when viewing the pictures of her once best friend did she show any kind of feeling. It is even sadder that the responsibility of caring for her cousin seems to be on her shoulders at such a young age of 13. And the fact that the aunt could only talk about how hard raising HER son would become without this little girl there to do the job. Just sad all the way waround..

This little girl Has Alot of issues. She has a total lack of emotions, almost like a sociopath. She needs counceling and maybe Juvenile hall!! I think she choreographed some of what happened and it got out of control. Maybe she was jealous of her friend?

So, she should be hanged. She caused the life of a young girl to be ruined forever. And not only that, she LET it happen. I like how she’s not mad at her “Boyfriend”. Yeah, she needs to have her life ended.

I am constantly amazed at the way we expect children to take responsibility for their actions, when the adults around them don’t. These are children who should have been taught not to talk so callously about the death of peoples loved ones, that no matter what anyone says- you cant physically hurt them, and that children are unpredictable and need their parents advice more than they think. My heart breaks for all these children and I can only pray that the parents near me are more involved in the formation of their childrens morals.

It seems to me that this whole incident should stand as a sobering experience for the populous. I’ve noticed as a male that younger ladies aren’t taught respect and tact as rigorously as boys anymore (in some cases). They speak out without any regards for possible consequences. It doesn’t matter how big the guy is, some girls will push any button they feel like with absolute certainty that he won’t react. I’m not a proponent of violence and I’ve never hit a woman, but isn’t it time to teach our young ladies (and men) that not every man is raised that way. Even if he was raised well, everyone has limits. Little Josie certainly didn’t deserve this, but after reading the messages they sent back and forth; she could have easily avoided it with a little discretion.

Takes a lot in a young adult like my self to see that kids these days are quit messed up.
Yes she is a 13 year old girl. And it’s obviously she knew very well what was going on. Maybe she didn’t realize the climax this would take cause of her actions. But she definitely knew what the boy was gonna do.
They both deserve some serious time in the slammer.
