The "Mad Max" star was subdued in a series of apologetic text messages to Oksana Grigorieva on the day after he allegedly punched her in the mouth, RadarOnline.com reported Thursday.
"Oksana, I wasn't safe for you last night," read one of the Jan. 7 texts. "I spent two hours with a therapist today and have regained some perspective.
"What I'm telling you know if I am safe & would like to come by and make amends to you, Sascha and Lucia. I won't stay just let you say your peace and I'll say mine. Let me know if it's alright!"
Gibson sent another five brief text messages in the 30 minutes before the mother of his daughter Lucia finally replied, Radar reported.
"I have two broken teeth and a concussion," Grigorieva responded. "I can not c u today, I'm hurting. Ucan apologize to Sacha some other time."
"Did you get them fixed yet?" Gibson asked about her teeth.
The Web site previously ran a half-dozen audio recordings of Gibson ranting at his ex-girlfriend about an assortment of things.
On one of the tapes, the "Lethal Weapon" star screamed that she "f---ing deserved it" when she griped about the alleged assault. On another, Gibson told her that "no one will believe you."
Gibson's lawyers deny he ever struck Grigorieva, and accused the Russian native of trying to shake down the actor.
Detectives are investigating both Grigorieva's domestic abuse charge and Gibson's extortion claim.
