Pisces5 People Who Need to Forgive Me
Lenore Moritz: I'm preparing for my spiritual master cleanse with the arrival of the Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), which are the dynamic holiday duo that offer a fresh start and an opportunity for introspection.
During these holy days, Jews ask forgiveness from one another, themselves and God. I'm making my list and checking it twice -- I don't want to miss anyone. Here's a partial list of who I need to ask forgiveness from:
1) The property manager in my apartment building ... because I knowingly take off and empty my sons' post-playground, sand-filled shoes in the building hallway. (In my defense, the sand does blend in with the rug color, and the property manager vacuums daily. Still, it's not right of me. I'm sorry!)
2) The customer-support rep from my cell-phone provider ... because I was impatient and could have been nicer. (In my defense, we were making no headway in solving my issue, and I'd hit the wall. Still, what kind of day must she have? It's not like people are calling customer support to say thanks! I'm sorry, customer-support rep!)
3) My husband ... because patience is not my virtue (see customer-support apology above). He seems to get the brunt of this unfortunate trait of mine -- especially when he does things like mistakenly buy the full-calorie yogurt for the seventeenth time. (In my defense, well ... let's face it: After eight years of marriage, he should know where the word "lite" appears on packaging. Still, I'm sorry, loving spouse!)
4) My son with the nut allergy ... for deceiving him when I don't want him to eat something by telling him that the food has nuts in it. (In my defense, aren't white lies allowed sometimes? Still, I feel a little bad about it, so I'm sorry.)
5) Myself. It's a well-known fact that you have to forgive yourself. So, self, please forgive me for ...
... wasting time worrying about "bad hair days" (as if anyone else notices).
... letting my kids watch just one more TV show, so I can finish what I'm working on.
... not cooking more.
... not cleaning more.
Hmm, this might take a while ....
