Disney Resorts Raise Ticket Prices?!

Apparently Mickey didn't get the memo that we are in the middle of a recession. Effective today, Disneyland, Disney World and all affiliated theme parks will be raising their admission prices as follows:

Disneyland Resort
  • One-day, one-park tickets will be $76 for ages 10+ (up from $72).
  • One-day, one-park tickets will be $68  for ages 3 to 9 (up from $62).
  • Two-day park-hopper tickets will be $161 for ages 10+ (up from $151).
  • Two-day park-hopper tickets will be $146 for ages 3 to 9 (up from $131).
  • Annual-pass parking will be $99 (up from $79).
  • Deluxe annual passes will be $329 (up from $299).
  • Premium annual passes will be $459 (up from $439).
Whoa. As a mom who's struggling to shave off as much as she can from her family budget, I feel like this really puts a kink in our upcoming trip to the Happiest Place on Earth -- especially since we have yet to buy our tickets. If we had bought them earlier, the lower prices would have been honored. I knew procrastination would be the death of me! 

We're talking a good extra $40 for a family of four to visit Mickey and his money-hungry friends. And while it might not seem like a lot, it is when you consider the already-sky-high cost of food and all the other money one spends on souvenirs and carnival games in the average Disney day.

I'm totally temped to pack a lunch for the fam when we go to the park, and show Mickey who has the upper hand. My homemade deli sandwiches will be no match for those mediocre $10 hamburgers, that's for sure!
