Caroline Giuliani, the Harvard-coed daughter of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, was just cold busted for shoplifting $150 worth of cosmetics from Sephora!

"She was caught red-handed. She knew it, and didn't act out," a police source told the New York Daily News. The 20-year-old was cuffed and arrested for misdemeanor petty larceny.

Per the Daily News, a Sephora employee said, "We were watching her on camera. She was stealing mad stuff."

It seems Caroline has long nursed a rebellious streak. For one thing, she supported Obama for President when her own dad was going after the Republican nomination.

But shoplifting? Really? I could almost reconcile this if she were destitute and desperately needed some quality foundation to cover her stressed skin before a much-needed job interview. But she's Rudy Giuliani's kid, for crying out loud! She goes to Harvard! She has the money!

What drives a kid who has so much to take even more?

Dr. Carl Pickhardt, psychologist and author of many books on parenting, among them the Everything Parent's Guide To The Strong Willed Child, says for teens, the urge to shoplift is often more about seeing how much you can get away with, rather than actually wanting or needing something. So what triggers the urge? "All it takes is temptation of the moment, intolerance of delayed or denied gratification and the belief that one won't get caught," he explains. 

And teens from wealth or status often feel compelled to steal because they actually believe they are above the law. Says Pickhardt: "In the case of the socially privileged, there may be belief that rules are made for others, that one will not be prosecuted and perhaps the experience of having gotten away with rule breaking before." 

Well, well, well....turns out Caroline Giuliani might not be above the law after all. Sephora is reportedly pressing charges!
