Is Breastfeeding the New Jenny Craig?

momlogic's Vivian:In cruising around the Web, we came across a great entry on Blacktating about a new pro-breastfeeding campaign from the New York State Department of Health that's sweeping the City.

woman breasfeeding

The blog points out how the billboard/bus-depot campaign lauds the numerous health benefits of breastfeeding with a number of little-known facts: Breastfeeding for even one month can cut your risk of diabetes by 27 percent; there are decreased rates of breast and ovarian cancer in moms who've breastfed; it lowers your risk of heart disease, etc.

Then there's the biggie: weight loss. We've heard celeb after celeb say all they had to do was breastfeed to reduce themselves to a size two in three short months, but to hear this message in an ad delivered by an average-looking mom almost comes off like a parody crafted by "SNL," because A) not everyone can breastfeed with ease, B) not everyone loses so much weight by breastfeeding (I sure as shizz didn't) and C) it's nice to think the health benefits -- not the weight loss -- would be what motivated a mom to give it a whirl.

What do you guys think? Does this ad inspire you to breastfeed? Or does it inspire your mockery?

This post appears to get a great deal of visitors. How do you get traffic to it? It gives a nice individual twist on things. I guess having something useful or substantial to give info on is the most important thing.

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
