Jessica Alba's Secret to Getting Baby to Sleep Through the Night

sign up for the momlogic newsletter Tweet This
Jessica Alba recently told David Letterman that the trick to getting her toddler to sleep was to "overfeed" her. Yep, you read that right. She said that if her daughter, Honor Marie, was full, she wouldn't wake up in the night hungry and would eventually learn to sleep uninterrupted until about 9 AM.

She tells David Letterman, "(Honor was) overfed (as a baby). She weighed just as much at six months as she does now. She was really chubby."

Jessica Alba
To Alba's statement, Letterman replied (jokingly of course), "Well, that sounds abusive!" (We're just gonna let him make the comments on this one ....)

Moms, how did you get your child to start sleeping through the night?

Stop the daytime sleeping. If your child has an afternoon nap, they will either wake during the night or struggle with bedtime. Both my kids went to bed easily and slept through, but neither had afternoon naps past 1 1/2 to 2 yrs old.

She was joking - she not advising it as a way to get kids to sleep, my goodness. Letterman did not call her actions abusive. You should take this wrong story down or post a correction about how wrong you got it. Actually watch interviews before you print such hateful things about another mom.

I’d be inclined to consent with you here. Which is not something I usually do! I love reading a post that will make people think. Also, thanks for allowing me to speak my mind!
