CBS NY: Police are searching for three thieves who apparently used a toddler as a distraction before completing an armed robbery in Morningside Heights. As CBS 2's Kathryn Brown reports, part of the act was caught on surveillance tape.

From the looks of the footage, the woman seen carrying a baby doesn't appear very suspicious. But police say the child was brought along as a prop. The woman and two men seen in the video used the child to bait their victim - then rob him.

The surveillance video shows the trio of suspects heading into the Hartbridge Court apartments in Morningside Heights.

Investigators said the woman knocked on the victim's door with the baby in her arms, and when it was opened, two men stormed inside and held the victim up at gunpoint as they stole his cash and an iPhone.

"I think it's terrible," said resident Samuel Kamassa. "It's very hard to see a woman that has a baby and - then a robbery - it's not good."
