Go Ahead -- Get Emotional!

We all know that expressing yourself can be hard, even as an adult. That's why we love Wild Ride to the Heart, an engaging game that teaches children about recognizing, expressing and balancing their emotions.

Wild Ride to the Heart
The game was created by the longstanding nonprofit Institute of HeartMath (IHM), which strives to teach people to connect with others using the intelligence and guidance of their hearts. Though a series of fun obstacles and colorful card play, the game helps children begin to understand and identify emotions, as well as the relationships in their lives.

While the game can be played at home, IHM is pushing for its use in schools, as their research has shown that there is a direct link between academic performance and a student's ability to self-manage emotions.

"In recent studies, we've shown that shifting from a turbulent state to a more positive emotional state can facilitate the higher cognitive processes that are critical for focusing attention, reasoning and creativity," says Dr. Rollin McCraty, director of research at IHM.

Moms, how do you teach your children to deal with their emotions?
