Notes from Bedrest: Labor

Jane from L.A.: Don't get all crazy, I'm not in labor ... yet. But I'm having contractions and PAIN and all that good stuff. Went to see Dr. S. and he took out the stitch. That was so much fun. But it's over. I'm stitch-less. Just shy of 37 weeks.

Doctor thinks the baby'll be here by the weekend.

Think good thoughts pleeease.

Then, later ....

OK. Contractions? Suuuuuuuuuuuck. I got to hospital at 7:30 with contractions five minutes apart but in two hours, there was no change in dilation. Then they were four minutes apart, and so painful I yelled. A lot. And cried. And yelled again. And I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. They decided I was in labor about an hour ago -- you think?! Then they gave me an epidural. All is good again. And now we wait. I guess I'll have the baby at some point tomorrow.

"Notes from Bedrest" is a column that features e-mails from a mom who recently experienced bedrest. We are posting her e-mails chronologically in the order she wrote them.
