'Undercover Boss' Features First Female CEO

Kim Schaefer, CEO of Great Wolf Resorts, Inc., North America's largest family of indoor waterpark resorts, is the first female CEO to be featured on "Undercover Boss."
Kim Schaefer sat down with momlogic to discuss her unique journey.
ML: Are you a mom yourself?
KS: I have a 15-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. I'm a working mom who goes through the same struggles that other moms out there go through. My advice to working moms is that early on, I figured out I can't do everything. I have my family and I have my work and that's it. I don't have a lot more -- that's how I balance it.
KS: Yes! Having seen last season, I thought: I have been with the company 14 years, I know the jobs, and I'm going to be a superstar! I was in for a rude surprise.
ML: We heard you worked undercover at the Great Wolf daycare program (The Cub Club).
KS: It's much easier to wrangle a room full of executives than a room full of children! The kids knew I was new so they tortured me a bit.
ML: What were some things you learned along the way?
ML: Would you do this all again?
KS: Yes. I had a double opportunity to change and to grow. You always say you'd love to get a new perspective -- "Undercover Boss" is a big way to do it and a dramatic way to do it. I love to grow and to learn the what the company is all about. This was the highlight of my professional career.
Tune in Sunday, Oct. 3 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.

I watch Undercover Boss and I like the show. But I think that there is a serious problem on the show with the way the employees Trash on the CEO’s on the first day of the job. Maybe its the sign of the times. But it’s not right and makes them look bad. Kim Shaffer is a very nice person, and the way she was treated by her employees was shameful. And stop with the sad stories, everybody has a sad story .the moral of the show should be to treat everyone with RESPECT
Its not funny to see CEO’s struggle with the job and then be treated like trash by their employees is WRONG !!! Without even being trained, being yelled at, and being talked about behind their back. And then all sweet when they find out she’s the CEO. This is a problem on the show. And should be mentioned. Thank you.
