Recession Mama Michele Ashamalla: Usually if I hear that something requires a download, I think "Virus!" and take a pass. Drop Down Deals is making me think twice ....

Dropdowndeals

Drop Down Deals is a new install that searches for coupons for you. When you go shopping online, coupons for the website you are visiting drop down in your browser. The site's creators call it the "new coupon solution which will save ... time, money, hassle and headache by automatically delivering vetted discounts and deals where [consumers] shop, when they shop."

Most of us can find our own coupons, but not right away. It takes me a while to sift through various coupons on multiple coupon websites, and many times I've discovered what I thought were great coupons, only to find that they were expired or otherwise invalid.

I'm not nervous about the download, since it is available on Download.com, which is the download section on CNET, a respected technology-review site and one of my personal favorites. All software to download on the site has been tested to ensure that it is 100 percent free of spyware, viruses and other malware.

Drop Down Deals has deals for thousands of websites and could potentially save me a lot of time and money this holiday season. I'm willing to give them a try. How about you?
