Permission to cheat on your diet, that is. Don't worry, don't feel guilty -- just eat and enjoy it!
I'm all for us taking care of ourselves, but seriously: Thanksgiving is a holiday based on eating, so shouldn't it be the one day of the entire year that we can just allow ourselves to go nuts? We can criticize ourselves in the mirror, long for skinny jeans, say no to dessert and skip the bread and butter the other 364 days of the year.
On Friday, we can go back to pretending that we love the elliptical machine. We can re-convince ourselves that cottage cheese tastes good. And we can cut out the image of the too-skinny model in our goal dress and put it on the fridge.
Just in case you are looking for it: I, with no official authority, hereby give you permission to take this one day to indulge. Go ahead and eat that brie appetizer! Put the extra stick of butter in the mashed potatoes! Have seconds -- and maybe thirds! And just this once, try both pie options and don't ask for "slivers." Unbutton those pants, let the muffin top breathe and don't even attempt to go on that after-dinner walk.
