I learned that “80% of what we learn is through our eyes and 60% of students who have learning difficulties also have eye problems”. As an educator, this is important information that I can use when planning instruction and that I can share with my parents. Thanks for this opportunity! (Westwood Elementary School, South Carolina)
I learned that changes in the eyes from year to year can show health problems. Therefore it’s important to get yearly eye exams.
I’d like the funds to be donated to Eternity Christian Academy in Richfield NC

60% of children with learning difficulties also have vision problems and 80% of what we learn is through our eyes. This is why it is so important for babies as young as 6 months to get their eyes examined. This simple exam can help with their future success.

What a wonderful idea. I have been in glasses since i was about three yrs. old.I see many little ones running around now in school with vision problems. Here they don’t do a yearly check up on the little bit older children and some parents don’t notice the propblem is seeing the words to speak them. I’m always double checking the grandchildren for eye strain ect.Sure would feel better,if 6th gradeers were checked out.

As a nurse I often ducate the public on health, such as diabetes and high cholesterol, and the damage it can do to your eyes. However we usually don’t think that children are predisposed to eye damage at an early age! It would be great if you could select my son’s middle school- JTL Intermediate in East Stroudsburg, Pa as they too could learn healthy habits, educational material to benefit the kids of our community and the importance of taking care of your eyes. The community can also benefit the loow cost plan of yearly eye exams in today’s tough economy. Thank you!
Wendy Marsh East Stroudsburg, Pa
Eyes are checked on a yearly basis for things such as signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol by looking at the blood vessels in the eyes. These exams begin at the age of 6 months.
St. Paul School in San Pablo, CA or Salesian High School in Richmond, CA are the schools that could use the prize money! Thanks!
