Talk about the Grinch who stole Christmas!
Massachusetts State Police are on the hunt for thieves who busted into a locked storage container and stole $15,000 worth of toys donated to the Toys for Tots program!
Toys for Tots is a foundation created by the U.S. Marines that collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December and distributes these toys as Christmas gifts to local children in need.
Police think that the diabolical caper occurred in the middle of the night last weekend in Burlington, Mass., and that about 1,500 toys were taken. The thieves were purposeful, too: They only stole toys worth up to $30 and those for kids over the age of 8. Adding sadder to sad, because the theft occurred so close to Christmas, it might be too late to replace the stolen toys -- even if people rally and donate.
Of this horrible travesty, Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Marian McGovern said, "This is a despicable crime against the generous people who donated these toys and against the hundreds of children in need who would have received these gifts and who now will not. The state police and the Burlington police will do everything we can to find out who did this and try to recover the toys."
Can you BELIEVE?! What karma awaits these thieves!
