Get ready for some tasty and useful tips from a celebrity chef!
Susannah Locketti: The holidays are my favorite time of year to chat about food with other celeb chefs. Sunny Anderson, host of the Food Network's "Cooking for Real," is among my faves. You'll love her even more after you make her no-bake cookies and hear about her must-have item for holiday traveling.
Susannah Locketti: When you think "holiday comfort foods," what comes to mind?
Sunny Anderson: I'm into the cookie swap! If you have a cookie swap, you are guaranteed to leave with a nice array of cookies, plus it makes it more about family and less about money spent. Not to mention it is really traditional. I have a great recipe for a no-bake cookie called Crunchy Peanut Butter S'more Bites. They are so easy, and you don't need the stove, which is already used for so many other things. I always like to make a no-bake cookie option.
SL: What about a sweet and hot option?
SA: I make something called a Baklava Cup. They are small and petite, but so flavorful and easy to make. I use premade mini phyllo cups and fill them with a sweet and salty nut filling. They are really good.
SL: What is a mommy must-have this holiday season?
SA: Viva Towels! Every mom has to have Viva Towels on hand. They're just like a cloth, so cleanup is quick, and if you use one to wipe a nose, it is soft so you won't get red-nose syndrome! With all the holiday traveling, they are also perfect for eliminating airport stress about liquids. I soak liquids such as nail polish remover in a Viva Towel and pack them in baggies. This saves space and time, and it is convenient.
