Forget tropical drinks and pool parties -- ditching your own wedding is becoming the latest trend of the summer.

Not every bride is ready to walk down the aisle and commit, as evidenced by the increasing number of runaway brides this summer. From celebrities to ordinary women around the country, more and more brides are admitting cold feet, ditching the altar, and skipping out on their grooms.

According to recent reports (that may or may not be true), Charlene Wittstock attempted to flee Monaco three times to avoid her upcoming nuptials with Prince Albert on July 2. Wittstock ended up marrying Prince Albert, but other celebrity brides have chosen to bail on their weddings. Crystal Harris openly told several media outlets about leaving ex-fiancee and Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner before their June wedding date. Actress Ginnifer Goodwin also called off her wedding to Joey Kern in May.
