Uma Thurman, Motherhood

Motherhood (the Movie)

I have four kids, so I figured I knew a little about the lifestyle portrayed in the latest Uma Thurman movie, "Motherhood." But my mommy instincts were assaulted because Thurman's character seems to have none.

I Am a Shallow Mommy

When I was in high school I wanted very badly to be a cheerleader. I thought it was the direct means to becoming as popular as possible. I didn't make it. I'm still bitter.

Why I Could Kiss My Cell Phone

Cell phones are a mom's best friend. You can keep tabs on your teenagers and you don't have to worry if they go past curfew because you can just dial or text and nail them right then.

Who Put the Pipe In Popeye's Mouth?

My mother's generation did not experience the same fervor to make things fair like we do. Take the time my brother and I were drawing nicely at the card table. I was seven years old and Mark was five. My parents were entertaining another couple that autumn evening and counted on the paper and crayons to keep us out of their hair.

Too Many Pillows

I'm a little surprised the multi-pillow trend on the king-size bed has not died down yet. I think it became popular when Shabby Chic hit the showrooms. A minimum of six -- not counting the two you actually use for sleep comfort -- is required to capture the look.

My Honey-Do List

Guest blogger Marilyn Kentz says: I just love a nice garden. I feel so satisfied when everything is in bloom -- and that's where my husband comes in. In the beginning, I would emerge in the backyard wearing my cute overalls. Then my husband would do the real dirty work.

Make the Most of Your Playdate

Guest blogger Marilyn Kentz says: Whenever my 9-year-old has a playdate with a friend after school, I rejoice over the bonus free time I get. Elated, I usually cram in way too many tasks, talk on the phone the whole time or even dare to take a nap.

Why I Hate My Teen

Guest blogger Marilyn Kentz says: Do you live with teenagers? Intense, isn't it? Well, that's where they should be living -- in tents! It's very weird how one minute you love them, nurture them and protect them -- the next thing you know, you hate them. And they hate you.

Almost Empty

It's funny how your baby can grow up to hate you. Not real hate -- just the kind that makes it bearable to separate. Sort of. It didn't matter how obstinate she had become, when my youngest was ready to leave the nest, I mourned everything.

An Excuse to Eat Junk Food?

Can eating steak or chocolate really determine your unborn child's sex?

Many women turn to the Chinese calendar to plan the sex of their baby, but turning to burgers or ice cream? That's a new one! Researchers from the University of Pretoria in South Africa conducted a study on knocked up mice and found that salty foods and red meat tend to produce boys, while a diet high in sugar leads to female offspring, according to the Daily Mail.

Josh Duhamel on Pregnancy Sex

Fergie's boyfriend waxes philosophical about pregnancy sex, and she's not even pregnant!
.

We used to get our sex tips from our OB/GYN, but now we get our pregnancy sex advice from... Josh Duhamel? In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, the Las Vegas hottie muses on a guy's trepidation about having sex during pregnancy: "Maybe you're just worried that you're going to hurt the baby. And you realize you can't hurt the baby. You've just got to do it doggie style!" Hey Josh, are you trying to tell us something? In a bizarre coincidence, our Momlogic discussion group was recently discussing that same topic. Listen in to Marilyn Kentz, Ericka Rowe, Garcelle Beauvais and Robyn Fener's steamy girl talk.
