How the heck do you use a home pregnancy test? I can confidently say…”You pee on it!” I have become quite proficient with peeing on sticks…getting pregnant…not so much!

Wow… what a tie-in between First Response’s whole marketing concept (that women need an “easy” digital response reading because the difference between + and - is pretty hard to figure out…) with the title of this article ‘How the Heck…’ Really, these intelligent woman who have been going through the rollercoaster of trying to get pregnant need to pose for a picture with this headline? Insulting. Then we all bash Jon and Kate Gosselin because they’ve mentioned products… I’d say MomLogic is doing the same thing.

Perhaps home pregnancy tests have become far more complicated in the 10 and 12 years since I’ve last taken one. I took a plus or minus sign test and a “if a second line appears you are pregnant” test. Both came with two test strips in case you weren’t able to maintain a steady stream on the stick for the recommended time. In that case, you could tinkle in a cup and dip the stick right on in there. My first thought upon reading the headline to this article: if one is such a nimrod they can’t perform a pregnancy test, perhaps they are not ready to be pregnant.

Ok…fine….if no one else will say it I will. The headline on this article makes the five of us women look like…how did you say it, “Nimrods” or maybe unintelligent. However,I can say with full certainty the five of us are aware how to use and pee on a pregnancy test stick. The issue for each of us lies in actually getting pregnant. The video is meant to be informative and answer questions that women want to ask their doctor but seldom do.

I completely agree with Meredith. I’d also like to add that our anxiety throughout this “baby-making” process really do affect our perception and understanding of the tests. We all want that faint line to really be dark, so we can convince ourselves that the pregnancy result might be positive. Or we’ll get so sidetracked that the result is negative, or perhaps over-analyze all the information we’re armed with. I’m very sure many other women can relate to us. And the purpose of these videos is to comfort women and let them know they are not alone. There’s a great deal of information out there, and we shouldn’t be afraid to seek it out. No question is dumb…in fact it’d be foolish not to ask anything at all. The First Response team is incredibly resourceful and they are so friendly, welcoming, and caring.

I think the headline is misleading; however, there is nothing wrong with any woman asking ANY questions about conception and/or pregnancy. Women need accurate information. Knowledge is power.
