What's another word for trying to conceive? Oh yeah, SEX!
Are you ovulating? Did you take your temperature? Are you doing it with him on top or you? Hurry! Do it now! Now, wait 20 minutes after climaxing. Repeat monthly until baby is in the belly ...
Most couples that want a baby get highly educated about ovulation, conception, and pregnancy. The problem is, too many couples are overeducated, and sex turns into a utility chore to administer every month with perfect timing.
"Making a baby is organic -- we're talking about spontaneous conception -- and you don't want to turn sex into work," says Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz, OB/GYN and advisor at momlogic. "People get really weirded out about timing and positions and ovulation, and the reality is, making a baby is not a job. If you need help, we'll figure out why and work with that. In the meantime, you should be enjoying the sex."
Sex experts like to suggest different positions to supposedly aid the sperm in their journey to the egg. But there's no research to support it. What sexperts are really saying is try a particular position because it's different and it'll make you feel sexy and frisky. When you're feeling frisky, you're relaxed and not in that super-earnest must-get-pregnant mind-set.
When you relax, in other words, you're that much closer to a baby.
"While the jury's still out on whether or not certain positions actually work, trying different things helps you enjoy lots of good, condom-free lovin'," says Dr. Sadie Allison, sex and relationship expert at ticklekitty.com, and author of "Ride 'Em Cowgirl! Sex Position Secrets for Better Bucking."
