Men take it hard when their wives makes more money than they do.
In this month's W Magazine, Matthew Mellon, ex-husband of Jimmy Choo shoe empress Tamara Mellon, talks about why they split up. Apparently, it can really get you down when your wife takes home $100 million over the course of your marriage. Boy, we’d just hate to be in his shoes. Says Mellon, “I felt like my masculinity had been stripped from me. I feel like my b- - - s are in a jar, like a Damien Hirst artwork on the mantelpiece.” First of all, to W: Really? Dashes for "balls"? You disappoint us. Second, we’re not familiar with all of Damien Hirst’s work—does he have a piece called “Balls in a Jar,” and would you really want to put it over the mantelpiece? Okay, maybe we’re missing the point.
It’s true men can get really pissed when they don’t bring home most of the bacon. Here’s a solution: Make sure you and your spouse make EXACTLY the same amount per year, down to the penny. Then there’s no competition. Unrealistic? You betcha. So, how do you deal with it if you make more than your husband? Tell us!

The top 10 really, really, bad toys and a few not-so-good ones.
The World Against Toys Causing Harm (WATCH) has released its list of the worst toys of 2007. Toys make the list because they all are potential hazardous to children. Here are a few that made it: Go Diego Go Animal Rescue Boat (lead-painted boat), Sticky Stones (Two things that DON’T go together) and of course Aqua Dots, right up there with lawn darts.
WATCH isn’t kidding around, these toys are the worst of the worst. But here at Mom•Logic we wonder which toys are bad, not because they’re unsafe, but just because they’re kinda sucky.
Here’s our Top 5:
Furby: The perfect toy if you want your kids hanging out with a creepy talking gremlin.
Thumb Wrestling Ring: Each player inserts their thumbs through opposite corner holes and the fight begins – about as useful as a Rock Paper Scissors instant replay.

Research indicates dogs might be able to perceive our thoughts.
Generally, the definition of family includes children. Human children. But what about dogs? They’re our children too, right? While dogs may not have the ability to read and write, according to a new study dogs are highly intelligent and might be able to read our minds.
To prove this theory, Canterbury University psychology researcher Michelle Maginnity had dogs go up to people and determine whether or not they were secretly harboring food.
Most of the time the dogs were right. We don’t know if this proves dogs can read minds, or if people are just really bad at hiding food from dogs.
But hey, If you’re having telepathic conversations with your dog, maybe you think this is old news. But here at Mom•Logic, we have our doubts about the validity of this research.

When an online hoax leads to a teen's suicide, who's held responsible?
When we heard about 13-year-old Megan Meier, the girl who killed
herself after being cyber-bullied on MySpace, we were horrified. It was
bad enough that cyber-bullying had driven this girl to suicide...but
when we learned that the master plan was allegedly orchestrated by the
mother of one of Megan's friends, we were flabbergasted.
According to ABC News, this mom set up a fake profile on MySpace for 16-year-old "Josh Evans."
"Josh" courted Megan for a month, then broke things off, saying, "I
don't know if I want to be friends with you any longer because I hear
you're not nice to your friends." Then "Josh" began posting electronic
bulletins, saying things like, "Megan Meier is a slut. Megan Meier is
fat," according to the Associated Press. The AP reports that Megan, who had a history of
depression, was so devastated, she hung herself in a bedroom closet on
Oct. 16, 2006, and died the next day. When we called Tina Meier, Megan's mom, to offer our condolences
and support, she gave us additional details of this tragic story from her perspective. For the rest of the story in Tina's own words, the update on the new law that's being proposed in Tina's town tonight, along with expert tips on protecting your own kids from cyber-bullying, keep reading... |
