On March 22, 2006, Mary Winkler took a shotgun out of her bedroom closet and shot her minister husband, Matthew, to death. She initially ran, but later confessed to the act and explained that she endured many years of abuse from her husband. On the day she killed him, he had put his hand over their baby’s mouth and nose to quiet her after she woke her up from her crib. She is currently free on probation and has just regained custody of her three daughters.
