Mothers weigh in on whether or not motherhood is the greatest accomplishment in their lives.
When we posted My Kid: Second Best Thing Ever, many of you had an opinion on the matter. One mom chimes in: "Just having kids is not an accomplishment at all - any idiot can get knocked up. It's how you raise them. Instilling a good sense of morals, teaching them to think for themselves and question everything-be inquisitive about life and its mysteries and to not accept things for face value or to believe every little thing they're told--if you can do that, I'd say that's an accomplishment." Another mom says: "After my son was born I made it my mini-mission to tell all my pregnant friends that they might NOT be happy and fulfilled and complete and serene when you get home. I think there's huge pressure to feel that way, or act like we feel that way."
Do you consider motherhood the greatest accomplishment in your life?

I love being a mom, the joy the sorrow the pain and the pure love. It is my calling and it gives me more joy than I can say.
Motherhood has brought the most joy to my life. My sense of accomplishment is in how I choose to be a mom. How my kids see me as their mother. And how my family's happy. When I first came home from the hospital with my daughter 3 years ago, I felt a tug at my heart from my old life. I felt like I might let myself down by 'just' being a mom. I missed the social life and I missed my friends. But now, you learn which friends were real and which friends were stuck in the old 'you'. Motherhood doesn't define me as a person. It just adds to what type of person I am.
Motherhood is the greatest. I love being a mom.
