I watched this episode of supernanny where the nanny told the little boy that since he was a big boy now, he could give his pacifiers away to other little girls and boys that needed it, and the pacifier fairy would give him a big surprise. The little boy and the nanny put all of his pacifiers in a big yellow envelope and wrote "to: the pacifier fairy" and put it in the mailbox. the little boy awoke the next morning and couldn't wait to check the mailbox for his special surprise, and there was a big yellow envelope with his name on it. When the little boy opened the envelope there was lots of glitter and confetti (to make it look magical) and they had some bigger boy toys in it. (like dinosaurs or something) The little boy never had issues with a pacifier again, and you could tell he was proud to be a big boy and help others.

I'm haven't tried it, but it's worth a shot : )

hope it helps!

I tried that with my 2 1/2 and he cried and cried that it was "broken" and then stole his baby brothers(6 months) any other advise as to what to try?

I agree that was the same advice I was going to add. Plus when you cut it the "suction" is gone that they usually want out of the pacifier.

Easy as pie! I have managed to wean 3 kids off the pacifier with this method...Start by using a pair of sharp scissors and snip ever so slightly the end off the pacifier. Then once again every week untill it just magically gets shorter and shorter. Eventually he will decide it insn't worth it any longer. You will need to get rid of any spares and hope you don't loose the one left, or you will be starting over.

My three have all reacted differently--My oldest just couldn't let go and kept at it till there was no way to put it in her mouth any longer. She finally gave it up after a few months of sleeping with it in her hand. My middle daughter gave up after it no longer felt right in her mouth. My third is still in the process she appears to be in the middle. She no longer wants it in her mouth but is just not ready to let go yet.

hope that helps!
good luck!
