WEANING BABY OFF THE BREAST

user-pic

My daughter is now almost 8 months old, up to this point she has been exclusively breastfed!! I would like to get her off the boob and onto the cup (I am skipping the bottle as she hasnt found a bottle she likes and has been drinking from the sippy cup for quite a few months now!!). Anywayz, I have to go back to work in three months so I want to start weaning now. My only problem is I cant pump milk to move to the cup because my body has become accustomed to how much she eats and only produces that much (which means if I pump and she doesnt take the cup I lose out on the milk for the day)... and she HATES formula...

PLEASE HELP... any tips!?! what can i do!?!

Thanx, and i'll try the pumping thing

To tryto boost your milk supply at least until she can go on regular milk try pumping right after you nurse her for about 5 minutes. Once you get breastmilk you can try mixing it with a LITTLE formula and working her up to "enough." You can also speak with your doctor to see when she could go on regular milk. I had a breast cancer scare which made me have to wean early and she went on soy milk at 11 months...breastfed babies often prefer soy milk because it is sweeter.
