My son still wets his bed on occasion, even though he has been potty trained for years...is this normal? It's so embarrassing for him. Should I take him to the doctor? How should I handle this?

My son doesn't wet to bed, he wets himself, it's when he's out playing and he doesn't want to come in and go potty, he say's it's because he doesn't want to miss out on what's going on outside, sometimes I catch him but I can't catch him all the time, I've tried everything, I've told him if he keep's doing it he's gonna get a bad rash and it's gonna hurt, and I've resorted to those new under jams (for bed wetting) and I told him if he's gonna do it, then he can wear a diaper for now on. ( he's 9 almost 10 ) I'm not trying to scare him, I just don't know what else to do and underwear is getting expensive. I also told him I worry about him doing it and that I should have his kidney's looked at because I only have one kidney, (mine died and dissolved into tissue, that's how the doctor put it) that scared him and that's when he admitted he was doing it on purpose. HELP!! I need advice!!

My son is doing the same thing. I have noticed that if he drinks any cola after about 5pm he is more likely to wet the bed. Plus my son sleepwalks on occasion and those are usually the nights he also wets the bed

My son had this same problem until I was told his bubble bath soap was causing the problem. If your son is taking bubble baths, it may be the soap that is causing him to wet his bed. Good luck.

Definitely talk to your pediatrician and rule out something medical. My son has been having accidents now that he just started a new school. Transition is hard and when they can't express themselves, it's one way it comes out.Be patient and don't make it a battle... You're a good mom for addressing it.
