My daughter is 25 and expecting her first child. She has a career as a CAD Designer in VA but will be relocating to TX to be with us before the baby is due. The problem is her benefits will disappear after she leaves the company. She would be able to keep benefits if she stayed and had the baby there but it is not emotionally feasible for her to do so. She could get disability if she was ordered to bed rest but that's not medically nescessary. She can get coverage under COBRA but it would cost $600.00 for her and $300.00 for baby monthly. Does anyone have good references on a reasonable health plan that would cover medical expenses until she find employment here in TX? Or somone in HR that could advise us. Thanks!

I wish I had an answer for you, I really do . I have been in Tx. for 8 years now and I think their health care system , well, frankly --Sucks ,if you have no insurance ! (That was putting it mildly)And to tell you the truth if she moves BEFORE the baby is born -- she may need to reconsider. With NO insurance , God forbid the baby comes early! I am not trying to scare anyone -- only to warn you to look into this carefully. Most, if any, insurance companies will not pick her up because she is already pregnant.
My daughter went into early labor was transported to Galveston, she had no insurance. She SUFFERED and we lost our little granddaughter within minutes and her 1st born. We had always heard Galveston and Dallas was the place to go. NOT Galveston. There are other things that took place during that time but I will not go into that. Just do your homework, good luck and May God Be With All of You !!!!!!
