My daughter found a standard sized outlet safety plug that I removed to vacuum clean. When I turned around she was blue on the floor. I saved her life.
I have spent the past 4 years determined to end this problem.
I have been told by the CPSC that there is not enough data, A.K.A. Deaths, for allow them to make a change even though over 40 of the largest hospitals in the US have written to them asking for regulations.
I was told by the makers of these so called Safety Devices that If I thought it such a problem then I should do something about it...so I did.
I created SafetyCaps.
What do you think about this. Should standard sized plugs be banned.

Good for you ! and Good Luck ! As for the last comment -- apparently they have NO children and I am so happy they are so perfect and judgemental !! Bet they never thought of it !!
If you weren't a terrible parent they never would have had access to it.
Everyone should be made aware of this. I agree totally.
Holy moly! $45 an outlet!!!
I can not afford that. I like the SafetyCaps. For $14.99 (I only paid $11.99 by getting the coupon) I can protect my entire home.
I replaced all the outlets in my home with the ones that have the built in safety things that have to be slid to the side to plug something in. I also had them installed with individual safety overloads so that if the children did manage to figure out how to work the slider which is not likely the outlet would shut down immediately if they stuck something in it. It cost about 45 US dollars an outlet in our area to have it done by a professional electrician.
OMG, I never thought about it but you are so right!
Nice product!
this is one of those, 'I wish I had tought of it' products.
So simple yet so advanced!
What a great new product. I am going to replace mine ASAP!
I have often wondered about the size of those smaller plugs myself.
I refused to use them because I thought they might be a choking hazard.
I have never thought about it but now that I look at the smaller ones, I agree.
Wow. I have these things all over my house.
Yuck!
