When I was putting my son's laundry in his room, I found pornographic magazines! How should I approach him?

Two things would concern me the first is the source of these magazines. I am not sure about where you live but true porn is hard for a minor to get his hands on in our city. The second is the why. I would sit down with my son to talk over what is going on. We have always kept sexuality an open topic in our home so talking about it is not hard for us. If he is using them for sexual gratification looking at them and masturbating etc. it is different than if he is just curious about what naked women look like. For that Grays anatomy book(the science text not the drama) would be a better source. We are raising our sons not to see women as objects and also to have realistic views on sexuality so we would also cover the fact that porn is not welcome in our home and is illegal in our state, and that even magazines like hustler and playboy which are legal are offensive to us and why. So I guess it really depends on what your beliefs are as to what you tell your son but I think ignoring it is a bad idea.

Talk to them about your religious values ! Have your husband or their father speak to them of this .

Depending on how old he is...

Sit him down and explain how these mags are degrading to women and that real women don't like to be treated like this.

However, don't be too concerned as this is definitely normal behavior for a young man.

Are you people serious??? The ONLY thing that I agree with is the question about age. And if he had them out in the open like that I am guessing he is not very old. I would ask him where they came from for one thing to start with.
