Can't wait for your baby's first words? Better start talking. A lot.
A new baby gadget is getting some press again, this time showing up on Good Morning America. Lena,
an electronic word counter that attaches to your baby's clothes and
digitally records and tallies the words the child is exposed to throughout the day,
retails for about 400 bucks.
Apparently, says the Lena Web site, a child should hear 25 million words by the time they're 4 years old (that's 17,000 words a day!) or they'll fall short in kindergarten, land a low-paying job, and wind up living in the streets. Keep Reading... |

Tom Brady goes on an outing with his baby boy and supermodel girlfriend Gisele Bundchen--wonder what Mom Bridget Moynahan's thinking.
When your ex's supermodel g'friend is caught holding your kid...that can't go over too well. Does Daddy have a right to do whatever he wants when he's got the kid or should Mama have a say in who touches her baby? |

Obama's headstrong mother might have gotten that way by being named Stanley.
A boy named Sue, meet a girl named Stanley. Stanley was actually the name of Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, after her dad, who wanted a boy.
It seems like a cruel trick to play on a child, but times may be changing says Babynames.com founder and Mom•Logic friend Jennifer Moss, "Boy names have become really "in" for girls, especially in Hollywood, Brendan Fehr of CSI Miami fame just named his daughter James Olivia, and actress Soleil Moon Frye named her daughter the masculine sounding Jagger Joseph." When Claire drank her own breast milk on America's Next Top Model this week, it brought back memories for Mom•Logic's Jill.
I don't watch America's Next Top Model by choice. But because my teen daughters are shamefully addicted, I end up watching more of it than I care to admit. I have to say, this scene wasn't the first time I've witnessed someone take a swig of breastmilk, but the particularly distasteful part is that it was my own! Keep Reading... |

A 21-year-old grapples with telling a little boy she's his Mom.
Panda asks our Moms: "I have a 2-year-old son. He doesn't live with me
because I was 18 when I had him. I am now about to turn 21, and he is
almost 3. He lives with my aunt and uncle and he calls them Mommy and
Daddy. When should he know that I am his real mother? Also, how should
I go about it?"
What advice could you offer to this mother? Tell her in the Mom•Logic Community. |
