Finding a good job is hard enough--so how did a woman land a prestigious military post when seven months pregnant?
Not only is Carme Chacon the first woman ever to be defense minister in her native Spain, she's also pregnant. Really pregnant. Makes us wonder if she was upfront about her condition when the Spanish Prime Minister appointed her to the post last week. Did she hide behind a couch during the interview? In the U.S., under the federal Pregnancy Discrimination Act, it's against the law to refuse to hire someone because she's pregnant. Still-- waddling walking into a job interview carrying WAY more than just a resume seems like job placement suicide.
Did you ever keep your pregnancy a secret from a potential boss? |

Watch out Moms, our jobs are about to be outsourced... to single, middle-aged men. Single, professional men are forgoing Moms entirely when it comes to parenthood, according a story in Sunday's New York Post.
Alone and eager to start a family, these dads-to-be are doling out as much as $90,000 to hire surrogate mothers to carry their offspring. Keep Reading... |

Is it morning sickness, or is the pregnancy rumor mill making us truly nauseous?

These days, seems like you can't swing a pregnant cat without hitting a celebrity rumored to be pregnant.
In recent months, reports say everyone from Eva Longoria to Fergie, Kate Hudson and (oh, please, no) Britney, are allegedly harboring buns in their superstar ovens. Now, Ashlee Simpson is denying rumors she's in the family way. And her fiancé, Pete Wentz, compared the media's preggers obsession to a
"witch hunt."
With the paparazzi on permanent baby bump patrol, we don't know who to believe.

Obama's headstrong mother might have gotten that way by being named Stanley.
A boy named Sue, meet a girl named Stanley. Stanley was actually the name of Barack Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, after her dad, who wanted a boy.
It seems like a cruel trick to play on a child, but times may be changing says Babynames.com founder and Mom•Logic friend Jennifer Moss, "Boy names have become really "in" for girls, especially in Hollywood, Brendan Fehr of CSI Miami fame just named his daughter James Olivia, and actress Soleil Moon Frye named her daughter the masculine sounding Jagger Joseph." Moms sound off about What to Expect When You're Expecting.
A new edition of the pregnancy bible What to Expect When You're Expecting was just released. That got Moms in the office talking about what they liked...or loathed...about the top-selling pregnancy book of
all time.
 | "I found What to Expect kind of terrifying. I'm a hypochondriac to begin with, so knowing about all the things that could go wrong during pregnancy, even
the most obscure, just made me paranoid. Finally, my OB/GYN told me to put it down and try
meditation tapes."
| | "I loved that book, but my husband hated it, because when I would read about a pregnancy condition I would freak out and bug him with the information. He wanted to throw the book in the trash after several of my freak-outs." | | |

Some Moms-to-be are desperate to keep their pre-pregnancy life--but are they going over the edge?
Let's face it--pregnancy can be tough. Giving up all the vices we've grown to love--wine, coffee, sushi. We do it, but not always happily.
A recent article in Page SixThe Magazine reveals a group of knocked up ladies in NYC who refuse to give up the things that make them feel good--like pole dancing, marathon running, and stilettos. Seriously, 6 months pregnant and pole dancing! The article goes on about their five times a week workouts and staying in their size four jeans. Keep Reading...

Do some women go overboard to have a baby on a certain date?
A Mom we met recently was determined to have her baby girl today--Leap Year Day--and was willing to induce to make it happen. It's the day she, herself, was born as well as a funny little once-every-four-years birthday.
When women schedule Caesareans and inductions for whatever reason, they actually choose
the birth date for their babies... Keep Reading...

One Mom prefers to wait until the birth to know the gender of her baby.
When we told you about The IntelliGender, a product that claims to predict the sex of your unborn child, it brought out both support and skepticism. One Mom reacts: "The Intelligender sounds like a cool product, but I personally did not find out the gender of either of my kids when I was pregnant. I loved being surprised, and it made labor a lot more fun just knowing I would find out if it was a boy or a girl. After nine months of waiting, I was just busting with excitement over finding out. When the doctor says "it's a boy!" or "it's a girl!" it is so exciting. There is no feeling like this in the world! My mom always said there are very few GOOD surprises in life, and this is one of them. I wholeheartedly agree."
