Choosing a baby's middle name can be as tricky as the first.
We're sure when Barack Obama's Mom chose "Hussein" for his middle name, she wasn't thinking that decision would make international news. Jennifer Moss, CEO of Babynames.com gives us her top five tips for picking the best middle-name for your child.
1. Don't try to be funny: Names such as "Pilot Inspektor
Lee," "Crystal Chanda Leer" or "Elvis Presley Smith" may be humorous to
you, but won't be to your child if the teacher announces their full
name in class.

Baby Names Jennifer Moss: Turns out that the Prez influences more than just policy.
As we celebrate President's Day, it's fun to look back at our forefathers and see how many have influenced baby naming trends.
The name John, for example, was most popular in the years 1962-1965, during and immediately after the presidency of John F. Kennedy. It was also the time when people started using Kennedy as a first name. But if you're considering this name, be aware: the original meaning of the name is "ugly helmet head!" Keep Reading |

This typical problem may have a deeper source.
When the baby won't sleep, we swear sometimes it's their way of showing
us who's boss. But one Mom's story of sleepless nights at Lil' Sugar
may actually shed light on a reason behind the all-nighters: Night
Terrors.
As she writes, "Nothing prepares a mom to be jolted awake by a blood
curdling scream. In the past few months, my son's gutteral wail
occasionally sounds and there's no getting used to it. "

A Mom•Logic single staffer wonders: Can a Mom and non-Mom still be best friends?

"I'm 32, and I don't have kids. I actually never plan to. But many of my friends do. Lately, I coined the phrase, 'A friendship dies every time a new baby is born'... Now don't get me wrong, I'm not bitter, just a little hurt.
After my oldest friend, Mary, had her baby, our friendship started to change. We had been friends as long as I could remember, and we had always shared everything. But now every time I called to see how Mary and the baby were doing, she was too busy to talk. I'd try to make plans to get together, but every weekend was another excuse--she had a mommy class to attend, the baby was sick, she was tired, the baby was sick again. I couldn't help but feel upset when Mary completely blew off my 30th birthday because her daughter was ill. I understood she had to cancel, but she made me feel like it was no big deal. I was completely off her radar. Although I was happy for the wonderful things that were going on in her life, it seemed she couldn't care less about what was going on in mine." Keep Reading... |
